How to reach Kashmir from Shillong

By air

Start from Shillong Airport (SHL) at Umroi, which has limited flights; Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport (GAU) is the main gateway. Because choices are limited, compare it with larger airports nearby and connect through Delhi or Kolkata if that saves time.

By train

Trains toward Jammu Tawi and Katra exist, but the distance from Shillong makes rail a trip in itself. Most travellers fly and use a private cab once they land.

By road

Travelling from Meghalaya

Most Meghalaya travellers fly out of Guwahati, about a hundred kilometres from Shillong, because it offers far more flights. Plan the road transfer as part of the first day of your journey.
