Start in Chennai, land in Srinagar and let a local team handle the hotels, the private cab and a pace that suits your group.

Planning Kashmir from Chennai? Start here

The short version for Chennai: one long connection is typical, so a seven-night plan works best.

With a connecting journey, 7 nights lets you rest after arrival and still cover Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam comfortably. We are a travel agency based in Srinagar, so our plans follow real road, weather and hotel conditions: Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the quieter Gurez Valley as a seasonal option.

How to reach Kashmir from Chennai

By air

Most Chennai travellers reach Srinagar with one connection, often via Delhi, Bengaluru or Hyderabad. Because schedules vary by season, do not count on a nonstop flight; compare total journey times, not just fares, and avoid very tight connections.

By train

The rail journey from Chennai toward Jammu is very long and is only for travellers with many days to spare. Flying is the practical choice.

By road

Driving is not practical. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu has airports in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli and other cities, and flights to Srinagar usually connect through Chennai, Bengaluru or Delhi. The journey is long, so seven nights keeps the pace comfortable.

A suggested route for Chennai travellers

With a connection on the way, expect to arrive tired. Day one is for checking in and resting. Then follow Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam over four or five days and keep the last two nights flexible, so a delayed connection never forces you to cut a place from the plan.

When Chennai travellers usually go

Chennai families usually travel in the summer holidays, in the January festival break when snow is possible, at Diwali, or between Christmas and New Year. A long journey makes a slower itinerary worthwhile.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Chennai

  • Allow generous connection times; do not book a tight transfer.
  • Book winter and January-break trips early.
  • Tell us your landing time so the first day can be light.

How much does a Kashmir tour package cost per person?

The cost of a Kashmir tour package generally starts from ₹6,000 per person and can go up to ₹40,000 or more per person, depending on the travel requirements.

The final price depends on the number of days, number of travellers, travel season, hotel category, transportation, meal plan, and destinations included in your itinerary. Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Premium packages are available to suit different budgets (see our budget tours and all Kashmir holiday packages).

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

Can I customise my Kashmir tour package?

Yes. At Acme Tour & Travels, we can customise your Kashmir package according to your budget, travel dates, group size, preferred hotels, vehicle requirements, and sightseeing interests.

You can request a family holiday, honeymoon package, budget trip, luxury experience, or itinerary that includes offbeat destinations.

We can also adjust the number of nights spent in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam to make the trip more comfortable. Customisation depends on availability, road conditions, and the feasibility of your requested itinerary.

What is included in an Acme Tour & Travels Kashmir package?

Our standard package inclusions generally cover:

  • Hotel or houseboat accommodation.
  • Breakfast and dinner, according to the selected meal plan.
  • Private cab for the agreed itinerary.
  • Vehicle fuel.
  • Applicable toll taxes.
  • Driver night charges.
  • Parking charges.

Some packages may also include a Shikara ride or other specified activities. Inclusions vary by quotation, so we provide the details before confirmation.

Gondola tickets, pony rides, local union taxis, entrance tickets, optional activities, shopping, and sightseeing outside the agreed itinerary may cost extra unless specifically included in writing.

We can also arrange accommodation-only, transport-only (see Kashmir car rental with driver), or customised packages according to your requirements.

What should I check before booking a Kashmir tour package?

Before confirming your trip, we recommend checking the following:

  • Compare the total package price, not just the advertised starting price.
  • Confirm the exact hotels, houseboats, and room categories.
  • Check whether breakfast, dinner, transport, fuel, tolls, and parking are included.
  • Ask which sightseeing activities and local transport services cost extra.
  • Review the day-wise itinerary and allow enough time between destinations.
  • Check cancellation, amendment, and payment terms in writing.
  • Verify the travel agency's business details and independent customer reviews.
  • Keep some flexibility for weather-related changes and unexpected expenses.

Our advice is simple: choose a package that matches your expectations, comfort, and budget rather than choosing the cheapest option automatically.
