Start in Delhi, land in Srinagar and let a local team handle the hotels, the private cab and a pace that suits your group.

The short version for Delhi: the quickest way in: frequent short flights, so even a long weekend works. This page also serves travellers searching from New Delhi (NDMC area), Faridabad, Ghaziabad.

Because the flight is short, Delhi is the one city where 3 to 4 nights can feel comfortable. If you want Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam without rushing, 5 to 6 nights is the better choice. We are a travel agency based in Srinagar, so our plans follow real road, weather and hotel conditions: Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the quieter Gurez Valley as a seasonal option.

How to reach Kashmir from Delhi

By air

Delhi has the busiest air link with Srinagar, with several airlines flying nonstop and a flight time of around an hour and a half. That makes Delhi the easiest starting point in the country for a short Kashmir break. Morning flights protect your first day; late-evening arrivals are fine if you simply head to the hotel.

By train

Trains run from Delhi to Jammu Tawi and Katra, and many travellers take an overnight service and continue to Srinagar on the Vande Bharat train or by cab. Check IRCTC for current timetables, and add a day to your plan if you go by rail.

By road

Driving is possible, but it is a long haul that usually needs an overnight halt on the way. Most Delhi travellers prefer to fly and use a private cab once they land – see our Kashmir cab booking page. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Delhi

Delhi has the busiest air link with Srinagar and the most trains toward Jammu, which makes it the easiest starting point in India. Short breaks and long weekends are realistic from here.

A suggested route for Delhi travellers

Take a morning flight and you can be on Dal Lake by lunchtime: land, check in, and finish the day with a shikara ride. Day two is for Srinagar’s gardens and old city, day three for Gulmarg. With only three nights, skip Pahalgam rather than rush it. With five, add Pahalgam and keep a slow last morning. Because the flight home is short, an evening departure from Srinagar is realistic.

When Delhi travellers usually go

Delhi travellers often go on long weekends, school breaks and in the heat of May and June, when the valley is a welcome escape. In winter, a snow weekend in Gulmarg is a popular short plan, though Delhi’s winter fog can delay morning departures, so avoid a very tight return.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Delhi

  • Pick a morning flight to Srinagar so the first afternoon is free for Dal Lake.
  • Book early for holiday weeks – Delhi–Srinagar flights are among the first to fill.
  • In winter, leave a buffer before your return flight in case of fog or snow.

How much does a Kashmir tour package cost per person?

The cost of a Kashmir tour package generally starts from ₹6,000 per person and can go up to ₹40,000 or more per person, depending on the travel requirements.

The final price depends on the number of days, number of travellers, travel season, hotel category, transportation, meal plan, and destinations included in your itinerary. Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Premium packages are available to suit different budgets (see our budget tours and all Kashmir holiday packages).

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

What are the extra expenses in a Kashmir tour package?

Extra expenses depend on the selected package and itinerary. Common examples include:

  • Gulmarg Gondola tickets.
  • Pony rides.
  • Local union taxis for particular sightseeing areas.
  • Entrance tickets.
  • Optional activities and adventure experiences.
  • Additional sightseeing outside the agreed route.
  • Personal shopping and expenses.
  • Meals or services not included in the selected plan.

We recommend asking for a written quotation that clearly separates included services from optional expenses.

It is also sensible to keep approximately 10–15% of your planned trip budget aside for unforeseen expenses. This is a budgeting suggestion, not a mandatory fee.

Can I customise my Kashmir tour package?

Yes. At Acme Tour & Travels, we can customise your Kashmir package according to your budget, travel dates, group size, preferred hotels, vehicle requirements, and sightseeing interests.

You can request a family holiday, honeymoon package, budget trip, luxury experience, or itinerary that includes offbeat destinations.

We can also adjust the number of nights spent in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam to make the trip more comfortable. Customisation depends on availability, road conditions, and the feasibility of your requested itinerary.

What is included in an Acme Tour & Travels Kashmir package?

Our standard package inclusions generally cover:

  • Hotel or houseboat accommodation.
  • Breakfast and dinner, according to the selected meal plan.
  • Private cab for the agreed itinerary.
  • Vehicle fuel.
  • Applicable toll taxes.
  • Driver night charges.

Some packages may also include a Shikara ride or other specified activities. Inclusions vary by quotation, so we provide the details before confirmation.
