The short version for Guwahati: a long distance, so give the trip seven nights and a relaxed pace.

Seven nights lets you recover after the journey and still enjoy Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam without rushing. We are a travel agency based in Srinagar, so our plans follow real road, weather and hotel conditions: Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the quieter Gurez Valley as a seasonal option.

How to reach Kashmir from Guwahati

By air

Most travellers from Guwahati connect through Delhi or Kolkata to reach Srinagar. Because the journey is long, compare total travel time and avoid very tight connections.

By train

Rail to Jammu is a very long journey from the north-east; flying is the practical choice.

By road

Driving is not practical. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Assam

Guwahati is the main gateway for the north-east, with flights to most large hubs. Because it is far from the valley, seven nights is a comfortable minimum.

A suggested route for Guwahati travellers

The route from Guwahati is long, so the first day is for resting. Use days two to six for Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, with one flexible day in case weather or a connection changes the plan. Seven nights lets you enjoy the valley instead of spending the holiday in transit.

When Guwahati travellers usually go

Guwahati families often travel in the summer holidays and during festival breaks. Winter is a good choice for snow.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Guwahati

  • Allow a generous layover in Delhi or Kolkata.
  • Keep the first day light.
  • Tell us your landing time so pick-up is smooth.

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

Should I book my Kashmir package in advance or after arriving?

We recommend booking in advance, particularly during summer holidays, the tulip season, New Year, and other busy travel periods.

Advance planning gives you a better opportunity to compare accommodation, confirm suitable rooms and vehicles, and organise your preferred itinerary. Availability and rates can change as demand increases.

We have helped travellers who arrived in Kashmir without confirmed hotel and cab arrangements and then struggled to find suitable options at reasonable prices.

For this reason, we recommend confirming your accommodation and transport before departure rather than relying entirely on last-minute arrangements. You can contact our Srinagar team to start planning.

What is included in an Acme Tour & Travels Kashmir package?

Our standard package inclusions generally cover:

  • Hotel or houseboat accommodation.
  • Breakfast and dinner, according to the selected meal plan.
  • Private cab for the agreed itinerary.
  • Vehicle fuel.
  • Applicable toll taxes.
  • Driver night charges.
  • Parking charges.

Some packages may also include a Shikara ride or other specified activities. Inclusions vary by quotation, so we provide the details before confirmation.

Gondola tickets, pony rides, local union taxis, entrance tickets, optional activities, shopping, and sightseeing outside the agreed itinerary may cost extra unless specifically included in writing.

We can also arrange accommodation-only, transport-only (see Kashmir car rental with driver), or customised packages according to your requirements.

What are the extra expenses in a Kashmir tour package?

Extra expenses depend on the selected package and itinerary. Common examples include:

  • Gulmarg Gondola tickets.
  • Pony rides.
  • Local union taxis for particular sightseeing areas.
  • Entrance tickets.
  • Optional activities and adventure experiences.
  • Additional sightseeing outside the agreed route.
  • Personal shopping and expenses.
  • Meals or services not included in the selected plan.

We recommend asking for a written quotation that clearly separates included services from optional expenses.

It is also sensible to keep approximately 10–15% of your planned trip budget aside for unforeseen expenses. This is a budgeting suggestion, not a mandatory fee.
