Start in Mumbai, land in Srinagar and let a local team handle the hotels, the private cab and a pace that suits your group.

Planning Kashmir from Mumbai? Start here

The short version for Mumbai: nonstop flights have been available, so the journey stays short for a long city. This page also serves travellers searching from Greater Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli.

With the journey time in mind, 5 to 6 nights gives most Mumbai families a relaxed Srinagar–Gulmarg–Pahalgam route. Add one more night if you want Sonmarg or a slower pace with children or grandparents. We are a travel agency based in Srinagar, so our plans follow real road, weather and hotel conditions: Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the quieter Gurez Valley as a seasonal option.

How to reach Kashmir from Mumbai

By air

Nonstop flights between Mumbai and Srinagar have been available on recent schedules, and there are also one-stop options through Delhi. Since schedules and airlines change by season, compare timings before you fix your dates and ask us to plan the pick-up around your flight.

By train

Trains from Mumbai toward Jammu Tawi and Katra are a very long journey, usually more than a day. Most families from Mumbai prefer to fly, or use rail only if they want to combine Vaishno Devi with Kashmir.

By road

Driving from Mumbai is not practical for a holiday. Fly or take the train, then use a private cab inside Kashmir. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Maharashtra

Maharashtra has several large airports, and nonstop flights to Srinagar have been listed from Mumbai on recent schedules. School holidays and Diwali are the busiest weeks, so book flights and hotels early.

A suggested route for Mumbai travellers

A Mumbai flight usually lands you in Srinagar by afternoon, so keep day one for Dal Lake and an early night. Spend days two and three on Srinagar and Gulmarg, then move to Pahalgam for two nights so the pace stays gentle. A sixth or seventh night lets you add Sonmarg without cutting into the quiet time in Pahalgam.

When Mumbai travellers usually go

Mumbai travellers usually plan around the summer holidays from April to June, Diwali and long weekends. Those weeks are popular, so book flights and hotels early. If you want snow, December to February is the window.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Mumbai

  • Check whether your Mumbai flight is nonstop or via Delhi before choosing the day count.
  • Book summer-holiday and Diwali travel early – hotels in Pahalgam and Gulmarg fill first.
  • Carry light woollens even in summer; evenings in the hills are cool.

How much does a Kashmir tour package cost per person?

The cost of a Kashmir tour package generally starts from ₹6,000 per person and can go up to ₹40,000 or more per person, depending on the travel requirements.

The final price depends on the number of days, number of travellers, travel season, hotel category, transportation, meal plan, and destinations included in your itinerary. Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Premium packages are available to suit different budgets (see our budget tours and all Kashmir holiday packages).

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

Can I customise my Kashmir tour package?

Yes. At Acme Tour & Travels, we can customise your Kashmir package according to your budget, travel dates, group size, preferred hotels, vehicle requirements, and sightseeing interests.

You can request a family holiday, honeymoon package, budget trip, luxury experience, or itinerary that includes offbeat destinations.

We can also adjust the number of nights spent in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam to make the trip more comfortable. Customisation depends on availability, road conditions, and the feasibility of your requested itinerary.

Should I book my Kashmir package in advance or after arriving?

We recommend booking in advance, particularly during summer holidays, the tulip season, New Year, and other busy travel periods.

Advance planning gives you a better opportunity to compare accommodation, confirm suitable rooms and vehicles, and organise your preferred itinerary. Availability and rates can change as demand increases.

We have helped travellers who arrived in Kashmir without confirmed hotel and cab arrangements and then struggled to find suitable options at reasonable prices.

For this reason, we recommend confirming your accommodation and transport before departure rather than relying entirely on last-minute arrangements. You can contact our Srinagar team to start planning.

Which is the best month to visit Kashmir?

Kashmir is beautiful throughout the year, but the best month depends on the experience you want.

  • March–April: Spring flowers, fresh greenery, and the tulip season, depending on bloom dates (see the Tulip Garden).
  • May–August: Green valleys, mountain scenery, gardens, and outdoor sightseeing (see our summer in Kashmir guide).
  • October–early November: Golden and reddish autumn colours, especially around Srinagar's chinar trees.
  • December–February: Winter scenery and opportunities to experience snow, depending on weather conditions, especially at Gulmarg.

Each season offers a different side of Kashmir. Our recommendation is to select your travel dates according to your preferred experiences, budget, and comfort.
