Start in Pune, land in Srinagar and let a local team handle the hotels, the private cab and a pace that suits your group.

The short version for Pune: usually via Mumbai or Delhi; many families choose five to seven nights. This page also serves travellers searching from Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Five to six nights covers the classic route; seven nights lets you add Sonmarg or relax in Pahalgam. We are a travel agency based in Srinagar, so our plans follow real road, weather and hotel conditions: Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonmarg, with the quieter Gurez Valley as a seasonal option.

How to reach Kashmir from Pune

By air

Many travellers from Pune connect through Mumbai or Delhi, and Mumbai’s airport is also an option if a nonstop flight suits your dates better. Schedules change, so compare journey time and total cost before booking.

By train

Trains from Pune toward Jammu Tawi and Katra are long journeys. Most families fly, and rail suits those combining Kashmir with Vaishno Devi.

By road

Driving is not practical for a holiday. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Maharashtra

Maharashtra has several large airports, and nonstop flights to Srinagar have been listed from Mumbai on recent schedules. School holidays and Diwali are the busiest weeks, so book flights and hotels early.

A suggested route for Pune travellers

Whether you connect via Mumbai or Delhi, land in Srinagar by afternoon if you can. Use the first evening for Dal Lake, then run Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam over four days. Add a night if you want Sonmarg as an unhurried day trip.

When Pune travellers usually go

Pune families often travel in the April–June summer holidays, at Diwali and on long weekends. Those weeks are busy, so book early.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Pune

  • Compare flying from Pune with a connection versus driving to Mumbai for a nonstop.
  • Book summer and Diwali trips early.
  • Keep a buffer in your return plan.

How much does a Kashmir tour package cost per person?

The cost of a Kashmir tour package generally starts from ₹6,000 per person and can go up to ₹40,000 or more per person, depending on the travel requirements.

The final price depends on the number of days, number of travellers, travel season, hotel category, transportation, meal plan, and destinations included in your itinerary. Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Premium packages are available to suit different budgets (see our budget tours and all Kashmir holiday packages).

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

Which is the best month to visit Kashmir?

Kashmir is beautiful throughout the year, but the best month depends on the experience you want.

  • March–April: Spring flowers, fresh greenery, and the tulip season, depending on bloom dates (see the Tulip Garden).
  • May–August: Green valleys, mountain scenery, gardens, and outdoor sightseeing (see our summer in Kashmir guide).
  • October–early November: Golden and reddish autumn colours, especially around Srinagar's chinar trees.
  • December–February: Winter scenery and opportunities to experience snow, depending on weather conditions, especially at Gulmarg.

Each season offers a different side of Kashmir. Our recommendation is to select your travel dates according to your preferred experiences, budget, and comfort.

Should I book my Kashmir package in advance or after arriving?

We recommend booking in advance, particularly during summer holidays, the tulip season, New Year, and other busy travel periods.

Advance planning gives you a better opportunity to compare accommodation, confirm suitable rooms and vehicles, and organise your preferred itinerary. Availability and rates can change as demand increases.

We have helped travellers who arrived in Kashmir without confirmed hotel and cab arrangements and then struggled to find suitable options at reasonable prices.

For this reason, we recommend confirming your accommodation and transport before departure rather than relying entirely on last-minute arrangements. You can contact our Srinagar team to start planning.

What should I check before booking a Kashmir tour package?

Before confirming your trip, we recommend checking the following:

  • Compare the total package price, not just the advertised starting price.
  • Confirm the exact hotels, houseboats, and room categories.
  • Check whether breakfast, dinner, transport, fuel, tolls, and parking are included.
  • Ask which sightseeing activities and local transport services cost extra.
  • Review the day-wise itinerary and allow enough time between destinations.
  • Check cancellation, amendment, and payment terms in writing.
  • Verify the travel agency's business details and independent customer reviews.
  • Keep some flexibility for weather-related changes and unexpected expenses.

Our advice is simple: choose a package that matches your expectations, comfort, and budget rather than choosing the cheapest option automatically.
