Best time to visit Kashmir
There is no single best month – it depends on whether you want flowers, green valleys, autumn colours or snow.
March – April
Spring brings blossoms and Srinagar’s tulip season. Tulip Garden opening dates depend on the bloom and local announcements, so confirm before fixing dates.
May – June
Green valleys and comfortable days in Pahalgam, Sonmarg and Gulmarg. Popular with families and couples, so hotels fill early.
July – August
Lush meadows, with more rain and heavier traffic on some routes. Keep a time buffer and check road conditions before you travel.
September – October
Clear days, softer crowds and the first autumn colours – a good period for couples and photographers.
November – February
Winter: cold weather and the best chance of snow in Gulmarg, though snowfall can never be promised for a particular date.
How to reach Kashmir
By air: Srinagar Airport is the easiest arrival point; we plan pick-up around your flight timings. In winter keep a reasonable buffer in case weather affects flights.
By train and road: A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026. Timetables can change, so check IRCTC before you book. We can also arrange a cab from Jammu or Katra – see Kashmir cab booking.
Is Kashmir safe for tourists?
Travel conditions in Jammu and Kashmir can change, so check the latest advisory from the Indian government and your own country, along with airline and weather updates, before you book.
