How to reach Kashmir from Chandigarh

By air

Nonstop flights between Chandigarh and Srinagar have been listed, making it a short hop. Check the current timetable, and pick a morning flight if you can.

By train

Chandigarh is also well placed for rail or road travel toward Jammu and Katra, from where you can continue to Srinagar by the Vande Bharat train or a cab. Check IRCTC for timings.

By road

Road travel to Jammu is common for the region, but the Jammu–Srinagar highway can be affected by weather, so keep a time buffer and ask us about current conditions. See our Kashmir cab booking page.

Send us your flight or train details and we plan the Srinagar pick-up around them. A Vande Bharat train connects Katra and Srinagar and was extended to Jammu Tawi in 2026; timetables change, so check IRCTC.

Travelling from Chandigarh

Chandigarh has nonstop flights to Srinagar listed and is also close to Jammu by road and rail. That makes it one of the easiest places to start from.

A suggested route for Chandigarh travellers

The short flight from Chandigarh makes a compact trip realistic. Land in the morning, enjoy Srinagar’s gardens in the afternoon, and use days two and three for Gulmarg and Pahalgam. If you would rather go by rail or road toward Jammu, ask us about the highway conditions first and add a day for the journey.

When Chandigarh travellers usually go

Travellers from Chandigarh and nearby Punjab and Haryana often go on long weekends and in winter for snow. Summer is popular too.

For month-by-month conditions, see our honeymoon packages guide and the article on how much a Kashmir trip costs.

Tips for travellers from Chandigarh

  • Ask us about road conditions before driving the Jammu–Srinagar highway.
  • Book winter weekends early.
  • Fly if you want to save time; use rail or road if you enjoy the journey.

How much does a Kashmir tour package cost per person?

The final price depends on the number of days, number of travellers, travel season, hotel category, transportation, meal plan, and destinations included in your itinerary. Standard, Deluxe, Super Deluxe, and Premium packages are available to suit different budgets (see our budget tours and all Kashmir holiday packages).

For example, travellers looking for a budget-friendly holiday may choose standard accommodation, while honeymoon couples may prefer premium hotels or a luxury houseboat on Nigeen Lake.

At Acme Tour & Travels, we recommend comparing the complete package inclusions rather than choosing an option based on price alone. Our guide on how much a Kashmir trip will cost explains the cost breakdown in detail.

How many days are enough for a Kashmir trip?

We generally recommend 5 nights and 6 days for a relaxed first Kashmir trip. This gives you more time to explore the major destinations without rushing between places.

Suggested durations include:

  • 3 nights / 4 days: Srinagar, Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens, and a Gulmarg excursion.
  • 4 nights / 5 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam.
  • 5 nights / 6 days: Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam with a more relaxed pace and overnight stays in different destinations.
  • 6 nights / 7 days or longer: More time for Sonamarg, Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, or other destinations, subject to season and accessibility.

For travellers interested in offbeat places, photography, or a slower holiday, we recommend allowing a week or longer.

What should I check before booking a Kashmir tour package?

Before confirming your trip, we recommend checking the following:

  • Compare the total package price, not just the advertised starting price.
  • Confirm the exact hotels, houseboats, and room categories.
  • Check whether breakfast, dinner, transport, fuel, tolls, and parking are included.
  • Ask which sightseeing activities and local transport services cost extra.
  • Review the day-wise itinerary and allow enough time between destinations.
  • Check cancellation, amendment, and payment terms in writing.
  • Verify the travel agency's business details and independent customer reviews.
  • Keep some flexibility for weather-related changes and unexpected expenses.

Our advice is simple: choose a package that matches your expectations, comfort, and budget rather than choosing the cheapest option automatically.

What is included in an Acme Tour & Travels Kashmir package?

Our standard package inclusions generally cover:

  • Hotel or houseboat accommodation.
  • Breakfast and dinner, according to the selected meal plan.
  • Private cab for the agreed itinerary.
  • Vehicle fuel.
  • Applicable toll taxes.
  • Driver night charges.
  • Parking charges.

Some packages may also include a Shikara ride or other specified activities. Inclusions vary by quotation, so we provide the details before confirmation.

Gondola tickets, pony rides, local union taxis, entrance tickets, optional activities, shopping, and sightseeing outside the agreed itinerary may cost extra unless specifically included in writing.

We can also arrange accommodation-only, transport-only (see Kashmir car rental with driver), or customised packages according to your requirements.

Can I customise my Kashmir tour package?

Yes. At Acme Tour & Travels, we can customise your Kashmir package according to your budget, travel dates, group size, preferred hotels, vehicle requirements, and sightseeing interests.

You can request a family holiday, honeymoon package, budget trip, luxury experience, or itinerary that includes offbeat destinations.

We can also adjust the number of nights spent in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam to make the trip more comfortable. Customisation depends on availability, road conditions, and the feasibility of your requested itinerary.
