Jalandhar lies on the rail and road corridor to Jammu, so many pilgrims arrive by train or car in a day. Acme Tour And Travels is based in Srinagar and arranges the Kashmir end of the pilgrimage – airport or station pickup, hotels, cabs, helicopter arrangements and local support – so pilgrims travelling from Jalandhar, Punjab can focus on the darshan itself.
Getting from Jalandhar to Kashmir
Because the journey to Jammu or Srinagar is comparatively short, you can usually start the yatra within a day of arriving. A night at base or in Srinagar before the yatra day is still recommended.
Once your yatra date is allotted, book your flight or train to Srinagar or Jammu and send us the details. We arrange the pickup, the stay and the onward drive to Baltal or Pahalgam. See our transportation guide, or choose a Srinagar pickup or Jammu pickup plan.

How a trip from Jalandhar is usually planned
- Wait for the official dates. Registration for the yatra is handled through the Shrine Board portal and designated bank branches; we do not issue your permit.
- Get the health certificate. A Compulsory Health Certificate from an authorised doctor is part of registration.
- Book travel after your date is allotted. Fly or take a train from Jalandhar to Srinagar or Jammu.
- Arrive a day early. Rest and acclimatise in Srinagar, Sonamarg or Pahalgam before the yatra day.
- Yatra day. Travel to Baltal or Pahalgam and complete the darshan on foot, by pony or palki, or by helicopter, as per your package.
- Buffer and sightseeing. Keep a spare day for weather, then enjoy Srinagar, Gulmarg or Sonamarg before you fly home.
What to carry from Jalandhar
The days can be hot in Jammu but cold at altitude, so carry both light layers and proper winter wear for the shrine. Also carry your registration papers, photo ID, the health certificate, regular medicines, a rain jacket, thermals, gloves, a cap, sturdy shoes, a torch and a refillable water bottle.
Yatra rules to know before you book
- Registration is compulsory and you must travel on your allotted date.
- In 2026 the yatra was open to pilgrims aged 13 to 70, and women with a pregnancy of more than six weeks were not permitted, as in recent years. Check the 2027 guidelines.
- The shrine is at about 3,888 metres, so altitude sickness is a real risk. If symptoms worsen, descend and seek medical help.
- Helicopter seats, weather and road conditions can change plans at short notice.
